Hello, GM ACDelco Accounts/Purchasing VIN Access: SmartPro: REMINDER

Hello,

Welcome to the Two-Hundred-Twenty-Seventh.Two edition of Tech Tuesday, a weekly email/newsletter where Tech Ops will provide you with new ideas, new procedures, new tools, and anything new to help you in the field.

GM ACDelco Accounts/Purchasing VIN Access:

Some of you may have recently experienced issues with your AC Delco / GM accounts being locked.

We had the opportunity to speak with a representative from GM and learned that this issue is related to VIN mismatches. Specifically, some of the VINs entered for service did not match those displayed within Techline. In certain cases, this discrepancy triggered a security error that resulted in account lockouts.

Please note that this does not occur for every VIN mismatch. However, if you encounter a pop-up message stating, "WARNING: You have selected A VIN different from the VIN read from the vehicle. Proceeding could lead to damaging the vehicle and/or safety concerns. Do you wish to proceed?" you will need to click “Cancel” and purchase an additional VIN slot for that vehicle.

 

If no warning or error message appears, you may continue servicing the vehicle without taking any additional steps.

SmartPro: REMINDER 

Regularly updating your SmartPro is the most critical step in maintaining your device. You should update individual modules every other day and perform a full software update once a week, at minimum.
