Goal:
Reduce key miscuts and reaffirm proper techniques for clamping keys in the Gymkana Machine.
Process:
Following the exact steps and Gymkana prompts will help Account Managers reduce their key miscuts when using the Gymkana key cutting machine.
Clamping Steps:
1. Make sure you have the correct Jaw in place.
a. Please note the machine will tell you when to switch out the Jaw based on the key you are cutting. The “U” Jaw is the Universal Jaw and will cover about 90% of vehicles encountered in the field.
2. Via the Gymkana screen, select the correct vehicle information
3. Select your code option. These include Decode, Codes, Direct & Modify
4. A profile image of where and how to place your key will appear on the screen
a. It is critical that you carefully follow the machine’s instructions for key placement. Not doing so will result in a miscut key
b. The profile image will include a “redline”. This marking notes the exact place the tip of the key needs to be placed on.
5. Insert the key into the keyhole clamp located in the middle of the Jaw.
a. Keeping the key straight, align the tip of the key to the noted redline and screw down the clamp around the key.
b. Make sure the key is firmly secure within the clamp, is straight, and hasn’t shifted off the redline
6. Follow the same clamping steps for cutting the key as you did for your code options
