Hello,
Welcome to the Two-Hundred-Seventeenth edition of Tech Tuesday, a weekly email/newsletter where Tech Ops will provide you with new ideas, new procedures, new tools, and anything new to help you in the field.
Witech Issue
When attempting to program keys to 2024+ Jeep Grand Cherokees using Witech, users are seeing the following error message:
Negative Response: 0x33 Unable to write Immobilizer data into the RFH. Please make sure there are no vehicle issues affecting bus communication.
This is a nationwide issue on Stellantis’ end that is affecting aftermarket users and dealerships. Steallantis is aware of the issue and has been working on it for a few months. It is similar to the Renegade/Hornet/Tonale issue that was resolved in late 2024.
This is ongoing and can only be fully resolved by Steallantis, however, they’ve released the following tips to minimize the occurrence of this error:
• Only the FOB being programmed should be in the vehicle during the procedure
• Place programmed FOBs 6-8ft away from the vehicle
• Check FOBIK battery and replace if needed
Techline Connect Issue
We are aware of the GM Techline Connect immobilizer access issue with the AEZ FLasher and are actively working with our vendors to try to resolve this issue.
When using GM Techline Connect with the AEZ Flasher, users see a “VTD Secure Access Locked” error message and cannot proceed with programming the key. This occurs because the AEZ Flasher cannot currently communicate with GM’s VIP vehicle security platform after their most recent update.
Currently, this issue affects all aftermarket J2534 devices and is impacting several thousand users all over North America. This issue is being seen "sporadically" in newer (2023+) models such as the:
• Escalade
• Colorado
• Silverado
• Tahoe
• Suburban
• Sierra
• Yukon
We've been in constant communication with AE Tools since the issue arose while they are working to resolve the issue with the tools software/firmware developer and GM. As of right now, there is no immediate solution.
While the issue is out of our hands, we are going to continue working with our vendors to find a solution and will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
SmartPro: REMINDER
Regularly updating your SmartPro is the most critical step in maintaining your device. You should update individual modules every other day and perform a full software update once a week, at minimum.
