Welcome to the Two-Hundred-Twenty-second.three edition of Tech Tuesday, a weekly email/newsletter where Tech Ops will provide you with new ideas, procedures, tools, and anything new to help you in the field.

Nissan Programming Mode Issue



 


Today we want to share a very simple solution to a common Nissan issue. This is not a new problem by any means, but it still leaves technicians scratching their heads to this day. 

Here's the scenario: You're connected to a Nissan/Infinity and ready to program a new smart key. You've gone through the early steps, the existing keys have been erased, and you've gained security access. The SmartPro instructs you to turn the ignition and press OK. You have the ignition on, but when you press OK you get the dreaded Procedure Failed message. No matter how many times you restart the procedure, you still end up with Procedure Failed. 

Great news: You've already gained security access, so the vehicle is in programming mode. You don't need the SmartPro at all from this point. 

All you have to do is go through the normal programming sequence, just without the aid of the SmartPro instructions. Pay attention to the immobilizer light and you shouldn't have any issue getting the key programmed.

SmartPro: REMINDER 

Regularly updating your SmartPro is the most critical step in maintaining your device. You should update individual modules every other day and perform a full software update once a week, at minimum.
