When programming a key to a 2017-2019 Cadillac ATS, always pop the trunk BEFORE pulling the PIN code.
The battery is located in the trunk and is very difficult to access if the vehicle is locked up. The only way to access the battery if the vehicle is locked up is to unbolt and remove the back seat.
