How do I start programming keys and remotes with my SmartBox™ Programmer?

PLEASE NOTE: Make sure you have the new (and old) key OR remote with you before you go out to the vehicle.

Step 1: Connect SmartBox tablet to the SmartBox Programmer by Micro USB. Connect OBD cable to SmartBox Programmer.

Step 2: Most vehicles use a standard OBD2 connection which can be found generally underneath the driver side dash and looks something like this image.

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST

perform Step 1 before moving forward.

Step 3: Log into your account.

Step 4: From the HOME screen, press the “Programming" Button.

Step 5: Select the Make, Model and Year that you are working on.

Step 6: Choose which function you are performing – i.e. Key Programming, Remote Programming etc.

PLEASE NOTE: In some cases, you will need to “Read Code” to program keys and remotes to a vehicle. If you forget, you can always go back and try again.

Step 7: We recommend you start with the Preferred options as they have proved successful on this specific Make, Model

and Year in the past in most cases. If the preferred option does not work, we suggest that you work from the Option 1 down until you are able to successfully program the key and/or remote.

Step 8: Select how many keys or remotes you are attempting to program (based on which programming feature you selected) and then press CONTINUE.

Now follow the steps until you have successfully paired your key or remote. Repeat step 7 until successful.
