Hello,

Welcome to the Two-Hundred-Twenty-Seventh edition of Tech Tuesday, a weekly email/newsletter where Tech Ops will provide you with new ideas, new procedures, new tools, and anything new to help you in the field.

Service SKUs

This week we want to go over Service SKUs. Below you will find a brief overview of the SKUs and their proper usage.

Pin Code Programming
To be used when forced to access an OEM website and pay for a PIN any time a key is programmed.

Lockout Service
To be used any time the Vehicle Unlock Kit is used to unlock a door. (the Technician must be operating in a state that allows carrying Locksmith / Vehicle Entry tools or have the correct license. Also, these items must be listed as Van Assets in Internal for the SKU to work. This is not restricted by manufacturer and can be used on )

Key Code Generated
To be used any time a lock cylinder is removed from a vehicle and the factory code can be read directly from the cylinder. This SKU is restricted by the manufacturer. It is most commonly used in Toyota and Honda, but the full list is as follows: Acura, Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Scion, Subaru, Suzuki, and Toyota. The SKU will not work on any other manufacturer. (These tools are not classified as Locksmith / Vehicle Entry tools, They are just screwdrivers and can be held by anyone in any state without a license. Also, they do not need to be listed as Van Assets. If someone gets an error message on this, they are most likely using it incorrectly or on the wrong vehicle).

Lock Decode Service
To be used any time the Lishi lock picks are used. These are the same as the Vehicle Unlock Kit in that they must be used according to state licensing guidelines. It is not restricted by the manufacturer in the same way, but they do have to be listed as Van Assets for them to work. The restriction lies in that to invoice for the SKU on a CDJ vehicle, the CDJ Lishi must be listed as an asset. If you only have that one listed, you will not be able to bill for the service on a Ford or GM. The list of Lishis available is as Follows: CDJ, GM, Ford, Nissan, and Audi/VW. Tags can be applied to these to represent either Edge Cut or High Security or to specify older, newer, or different number of cuts.

Programming
This is not necessarily classified as a Service SKU, but here just to clarify the proper use of another tool. There can easily be some confusion that stems from the Hyundai / Kia Key Code GENERATOR on Internal. The Key Code Generated SKU will not work when trying to invoice this service. As stated above, this is only for removing lock cylinders and reading the code printed there. If you input a VIN from a Hyundai, Kia, or any other manufacturer not on the list, you will get an error message. If you use the Generator tool built into Internal, bill for the Programming SKU and adjust the price to whatever the customer would normally get charged for an Origination
