Toyota Prius 2004-2009 prox procedure
Use Orange (M) dongle only, for both phases.
*NOTE: current working prox will be referred to as "prox1"
New prox we are adding to the system will be referred to as "prox2"
*NOTE: this car must maintain a minimum of 11 volts through whole procedure or it will fail. Hook your jump box to make sure you maintain proper voltage.*
***NOTE:IF THERE ARE NOBLACK BUTTONS ON DOOR HANDLE***
FOLLOW PHASE 1
WHEN COMPLETE DISCONNECT T-CODE
PROGRAM REMOTES BY STANDARD TOYOTA MANUAL METHOD (PROX KEY IN/OUT 2x, DOOR CLOSE/OPEN 2x, PROX KEY IN/OUT, DOOR CLOSE/OPEN 2x)
1st Phase - Resetting Immobilizer
1. You will need Orange(m) dongle on tcode
2. Put prox1 in slot and turn ignition on (might have to push start button twice)
3. Hook up T-Code to vehicle thru OBD and enter Toyota, next "immobilizer", next "type 2", next "special functions"
4. Select "quick reset immobilizer". Immobilizer light on dash should come on and stay lit
5. Turn ignition off and remove prox1, then put prox2 in and turn on ignition, light on dash should flash once and go out.
6. Verify both have been reset by removing prox2 and placing prox1 back into slot and turn ignition on...light should flash once and go out it procedure is successful.
7. Skip this step if light went out. If not and the light stays on solid, push the start button 15 times or until the immobilizer light goes out.
Final step of phase 1: Check both prox1 and prox2 by placing them in the slot and starting the car. The car should start with each. If both start car...this phase is complete.
2nd Phase - Resetting ECU
1. You now need to unplug (power off) T-Code and continue with the Orange(m) dongle.
2. Put prox1 in slot and turn ignition on (might have to push start button twice)
3. Hook T-Code to vehicle thru OBD and enter Toyota, next "proximity", next "type 5", next "special functions".
4. Select "reset ECU". This will take 16 minutes to complete and the drivers door must remain open the complete time. Counter may not work so keep track of time yourself.
5. After 16 min the T-Code screen should say "procedure complete". At this point it is reset and you should turn ignition off and remove prox1 from slot while leaving T-Code on.
6. IMPORTANT: only one prox at a time can be in the car at this stage of programming or else procedure will not work.
Take prox2 and put atleast 15 ft away from vehicle while leaving prox1 in the vehicle.
7 . Now take prox1 and stick into the slot but not all the way in until it clicks. You simply want to stick it in the slot until you reach the clips but not deep enough to lock it in.
8. At this point we will turn the ignition on while holding prox1 in the slot. This places the prox1 close enough to the receiver to turn ignition on but will allow us to remove prox1 once ignition is on.
9. Once ignition is on remove prox1 from slot and proceed to next step.
10. You will now enter "program remote" under Prox 5 system, T-Code should indicate "0" remotes programmed to confirm the above steps were successful. If not, do not proceed.
11. Enter to program remote and screen will prompt you to "hold lock and unlock for 1 sec and then release and push lock button for 4 seconds or until beep is heard on prox1.
12. Once beep is heard for prox1, repeat steps for prox2 by switching the remotes out of vehicle and "holding lock and unlock for 1 second and then lock for 4 seconds. Another beep should be heard to confirm prox2 is programmed.
13. Procedure is complete at this point. Turn ignition off, unplug T-Code, exit car and test both prox1 and prox2 outside of vehicle to lock and unlock doors. Then test separately inside for prox start feature.
14. Now step back and enjoy the fact you weren't the first one to have to conquer this procedure.
