VIN Verification
When special ordering a key by VIN, it is always a good practice to verify that the VIN is correct before invoicing and placing the order. We frequently see key orders delayed due to invalid VINS.
Keep in mind that the VIN decoder/checker on Internal cannot verify that a VIN exists. It can only determine that the VIN fits the correct convention that could match a particular vehicle.
There are a few ways to avoid this issue:
Check the VIN on CARFAX
1. Go to CARFAX
2. Click Get CARFAX Reports
3. Enter the VIN and click Get CARFAX Report

Check the vehicle recall website
1. You can typically find a given manufacturer recall website simply by searching Google for "make + recall".
2. Each website will look different, but there should always be a place to enter the VIN.

SmartPro: REMINDER
Regularly updating your SmartPro is the most critical step in maintaining your device. You should update individual modules every other day and perform a full software update once a week, at minimum.
